WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix? Choosing the Right Platform

Every platform promises an easy website. The real question is which one fits the way your business will grow. Here's how we think about the choice.

When a website builder is enough

Squarespace and Wix are good at getting a simple site online quickly. If you need a handful of pages, a contact form, and a clean look, and you're happy working inside the platform's templates, they can serve you well.

The trade-off is control. You're renting a space, so custom features, unusual layouts, and moving to another platform later all get harder.

When WordPress is the better fit

WordPress gives you ownership and flexibility. You can add custom page types, connect to other tools, shape every detail of the design, and take the site with you if you ever change hosts or agencies.

It also asks for more care. Updates, security, and hosting need attention, which is why many of our clients pair WordPress with a care plan so those jobs aren't on their plate.

How to decide

Ask three questions. Will the site need to do something unusual, like bookings, memberships, or a custom portfolio? Will your content grow a lot over the next few years? Does search visibility matter to your business?

If you answered yes to any of them, WordPress is usually the safer long-term bet. If not, a builder might be all you need, and that's a perfectly good answer.

Still unsure? Tell us what you're planning and we'll give you an honest recommendation, even if it isn't us.
